1. Where did you get that name?
“Honey wagon” is an old military term for wagons that cleaned out the latrines during the Korean War and were lovingly called “honey” wagons. Want to read more?

2. How did you get into this business?
A friend in Oklahoma shared his knowledge and expertise to get us started in 1986 so that Mel could use his entrepreneurial skills and stay home with our family – and not have to drive trucks cross-country!

3. What should I put - or not put - in my septic tank?
Great question! Please see our Dos & Don’ts.

4. Who can repair my damaged laterals?
We’ll be happy to give you the names and phone numbers of companies we have worked with in the past and know to be reputable. Talk to anyone at Honey-Wagon at 913-681-3563.

5. Can you tell me exactly how much you pump out of my tank?
Yes, we can. Honey-Wagon trucks are equipped with a digital gauge on the pump that measures the exact number of gallons we pump out of your tank.

6. Why the big, shiny trucks?
If you did what I do everyday, you’d want a little pizzazz in your life, too!

7. What are the more unusual objects you find in septic tanks?
We find lots of small, children’s toys that have been flushed down the toilet.

8. So after you pump it, where do you dump it?
We dump waste per regulations of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and local environmental health agencies (see local agencies at Links). We dump waste only at approved wastewater facilities in the area.

9. What's the strangest thing you ever found in a septic tank?
The strangest thing was a dead cat! The owner thought it would decompose and eliminate burial. (Don’t try this at home, folks!)

10. Do you sell honey in bulk?
NO!!!
